FAQ
Before you start
- What counts as silence?
- By default, anything quieter than -30dB lasting 0.6 seconds or more. If breaths and word endings get clipped, lower the threshold to -40dB; if quietly spoken parts get cut, raise it. A 0.15s margin is kept at both ends so speech does not get clipped.
- Can I see what will be cut first?
- Detection and cutting are separate steps. Detecting tells you how many gaps were found and how much time they add up to, and you can adjust the settings and detect again.
- What happens to my original file?
- It is untouched. The result comes back as a new file, and nothing was uploaded in the first place.
