Before you start
- Why is the GIF bigger than the video?
- GIF cannot compress between frames and holds at most 256 colours. Coming out larger than the source is normal. Cutting the clip shorter is the reliable way to shrink it.
- How long should it be?
- Three to five seconds. Past ten the file grows sharply and some messengers stutter on playback.
- What happens to the audio?
- GIF carries no audio. Export MP4 or WebM if you need sound.
