Before you start
- How long does it take?
- It reads through the whole clip once. It scans at 320px and ten frames a second, so it is much faster than encoding, but a long video still takes a while.
- Too many or too few cuts?
- Move the sensitivity. Towards "find more" it catches soft dissolves; towards "hard cuts only" it keeps just the obvious ones. Changes less than two seconds apart are merged.
- Are the cuts exact?
- They land near each detected point, because the muxer can only cut on keyframes. Making them exact would mean re-encoding: worse quality, several times longer.
