FAQ

Before you start

01
Do I need a subtitle file to start?
No. Move the playhead, press "Start here" and "End here" to capture a range, then type the line. Each row shows how the text will break on screen before anything is rendered.
02
I am uploading to YouTube and do not want burned-in text.
Use "Save as SRT" to get the caption file on its own. YouTube and Instagram both prefer a separate file — it stays editable and it is indexed.
03
Will long lines run off the frame?
Lines are filled word by word and capped at two. A single word longer than the line is split only then. Larger text fits fewer characters per line, so check the preview under each row.
