Blur or pixelate part of a video

Drag over what has to go and it is covered with a blur or a mosaic — faces, name badges, licence plates, the address bar in a screen recording. A clip you need to redact is exactly the clip you do not want to upload, so this runs entirely in your browser.

FAQ

Before you start

01
Is the video uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens inside this browser and the file never leaves your device. For footage that needs redacting, that is the whole point.
02
Does the box follow a moving face?
No. A box stays where you put it. For someone who moves, draw it generously or add several boxes with their own time ranges. Automatic tracking is not something a browser can carry.
03
Can I hide something for part of the clip only?
Yes. Select the box, turn off "apply to the whole clip", and set the start and end seconds. "Playhead" fills in the current position.
04
Blur or mosaic — which is safer?
Both discard the original pixels, so neither can be undone. At a low strength the shape still reads, so raise it when you are hiding a person.
